Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Holy Family of Nazareth - Irving Conference
Founded in 1833 in Paris, France, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic charitable organization. The SVdP conference associated with Holy Family was organized in 2012. Being a Vincentian is a vocation to holiness, service to the poor, and fellowship with other Vincentians. We follow Christ’s calling to honor the dignity of every human person in our actions. When our neighbors and friends in the community fall on hard times, we help regardless of the income, color, creed or circumstances.
Our Active Members attend our meetings, share in the spiritual life of the conference, answer our helpline and interact with the poor in crisis who call our helpline. In addition, our food ministry members deliver food six days a week, stock the shelves and freezers in our pantry, and keep it organized. We also have a monthly food truck that provides free food to the poor. Some of our members in the food ministry attend our meetings and share in the spiritual life of our conference. We serve Spanish-speaking families as well, so we are in need of bilingual members as well. And lastly, the members of our SVdP Auxiliary are on call to help with an upcoming event or a special need like moving a bed from the Thrift Store to an apartment or helping with the food truck.
